- New Digital Procedure for Temporary Disability Benefits Takes Effect in Uzbekistan on 1 July 2026
Starting 1 July 2026, a new procedure for assigning and paying temporary disability benefits will take effect in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The process is being phased into a fully digital format as part of reforms to improve the social protection system and digitalize public services.
The new procedure is designed to create additional convenience for citizens, reduce the financial burden on employers, and ensure prompt and transparent benefit payments.
Benefit Payment Procedure
If an employee is certified as temporarily unable to work, payment will be made as follows:
• the benefit for the first 5 calendar days is paid by the employer;
• starting from the 6th day, payment is made from the funds of the State Social Insurance Fund.
This procedure reduces the financial burden on employers in cases of prolonged employee disability.
How the Proactive Service Works
Under the new procedure, citizens are not required to submit any additional applications or documents. The process works as follows:
1. the physician issues an electronic temporary disability certificate;
2. the system automatically verifies information on the employee's place of work and income;
3. the benefit amount is calculated automatically;
4. funds are transferred directly to the citizen's bank card or bank account.
As a result, there is no need to contact government authorities or submit additional documents to receive the benefit.
Key Provision
If a temporary disability certificate is issued after 1 July 2026, the benefit for the first 5 days is paid by the employer, and starting from the 6th day, payment is made automatically by the State Social Insurance Fund.
